Dairy Farmers of Ontario shared this recipe for Three Cheese Mac N Cheese. Blending three melty cheeses with a creamy homemade sauce and a crispy garlic panko topping, this comforting classic is rich, satisfying, and full of flavour. It’s a family-friendly favourite that’s perfect for weeknight dinners or special gatherings.

Three Cheese Mac N Cheese
Serves: 4-6 people
Ingredients:
- 2 cups (225g) elbow macaroni
- 3 tbsp local butter
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups warm local milk
- 1 tsp salt, plus more to taste
- ¼ tsp pepper
- ½ cup local old cheddar or smoked gouda, shredded
- ¾ cup local mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 1 ½ cup local cheddar cheese,
- 1 tbsp melted local butter
- ½ cup panko crumbs
- 1 -2 cloves minced garlic
- 2 – 3 fresh basil leaves, chopped
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a baking dish.
- Cook the macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 3 tbsp butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until smooth and lightly bubbling.
- Slowly whisk in the warm milk. Add the salt and pepper and cook for 3–4 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the 3 cheese types until melted and smooth. Add the cooked macaroni and stir until evenly coated.
- In a small bowl, toss the panko, minced garlic, and melted butter together.
- Transfer the macaroni to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the panko mixture evenly on top.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until bubbling and golden on top. Sprinkle with chopped basil and serve warm.
