“A Day in the Life” with: Visual Artist Teresa Young

Teresa Young has been painting for many years. She started selling portraits in high school to help out with finances. She then processed to surreals. In the early years, she used a lot of green paint, making her art moody-looking. She has recently gone on to painting landscapes, and with the many waterways in around her home, she has plenty of inspiration.

As I work a day job during the week, my art life is concentrated on weekends. I walk locally for inspiration and health and take photos with my phone for reference images.
I tend to paint most of the day and generally work on three or more paintings throughout the day. I recently completed this very blue water view of an island.

While I was working on that painting I wondered how a larger painting would turn out looking from further away. So I started on another one in a 36 inch x 12 inch size, extending the scene using my imagination.
I do small paintings as studies for larger ones as well. This small oval painting made me want to try a larger scale version later on.
An example of some of my earlier Surrealistic work. This one features an eye.
Another abstract example It’s a sunrise colours type of patterned aabstract.I called it ‘Sunrise of Symbology’.
This is ‘The Ripple Effect’ another orange themed surreal that plays with patterns.

What do you do?

Currently focusing on landscapes, but I’m also a Surrealistic. I do some figurative artworks as well.

What are you currently working on?

Currently working on many paintings of clouds with water views. I’m fascinated with colours and patterns in these landscapes.
