Five Minutes With: Singer-Songwriter Andrea Cormier

Raised along the coast of small-town New Brunswick, Andrea Cormier is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Halifax. In 2020, she released her first solo album, Creatures of Illusion, followed by a bilingual self-titled EP in 2024. With influences like Mazzy Star, Weyes Blood, and Beach House, her music weaves together ethereal dream pop and folk. Her songs move the way fog does — slowly, completely, until you’re not quite sure where you are anymore. Lyrically, she draws from the particular kind of longing that coastal small-town life leaves in a person: the vastness of the ocean, the quiet of a place you’ve outgrown, the beauty that lingers long after you’ve left. Singing in both English and French, Andrea crafts a sound that feels at once deeply rooted and gently unmoored.
