On Map the Dark, Quote the Raven step into their most personal and reflective chapter yet. The Newfoundland-based duo — Jordan Coaker and Kirsten Rodden-Clarke — craft a collection of songs that explores love, loss, memory, and resilience with honesty and warmth.
With lush harmonies and cinematic arrangements, the album weaves together threads of Americana and folk, anchored by the storytelling spirit that has become their hallmark.
Collaborating with some of Canada’s finest — including Alan Doyle, Tim Baker, Amelia Curran, Chris Kirby, and Joey Landreth — Map the Dark is both a sonic expansion and an emotional deep-dive. From the anthemic hope of “Back in Spring” to the haunting beauty of “In the Rain” and the playful sci-fi romance of “Uncanny Valley,” the album offers a wide emotional range while staying true to the duo’s roots.
This third studio release marks a bold evolution for Quote the Raven — a map not just through darkness, but toward connection, clarity, and creative growth.

Rapid Fire Local Questions:
What is your favourite local restaurant?
In St. John’s, Sushi Island
Toronto, Get Well Pizza and Arcade or Rolltation. We love sushi.
What is your favourite street in your city and why?
Love Water Street, a lot of local businesses and restaurants are there, and it’s a nice walk. Especially when they turn it into the pedestrian mall during the summer.
What is your favourite park in your city and why?
Maybe Bowring Park? It’s the most well-known but for good reason. It’s a beautiful walk that has a duck pond on either side, a swimming pool in the summer and lots of different events
What is your favourite music venue in your city?
This is tough. We played a lot of shows at The Ship throughout the years, and we’re always thankful for them. There’s a couple of cool new venues too, The Majestic and JAG Soundhouse. They’re great for a bigger show in a theatre setting.
What is your favourite music store in your city?
Fred’s Records. It’s been around a long time, supporting the local scene.
