Meet Rusty, a sweet old man and a true modern-day gentleman. He’s a big boy with an even bigger heart, happiest when he’s cuddled up on the couch watching TV or enjoying a cozy afternoon nap.
But don’t let this grandpa’s chunky size fool you-Rusty still knows how to have fun! Give him the right string or catnip toy and he’ll show off his signature moves, complete with expert bunny kicks. Like the little Romeo he is, Rusty expresses his affection for other cats through soft chirps and sweet “songs,” while always being respectful of their space. He would love a calm companion who shares his appreciation for lounging, gentle affection, and the finer things in life.
Rusty is currently enjoying life in a foster home while working on his weight loss journey. He’s looking for a dedicated family who can help him continue to slim down, as maintaining a healthy weight is very important for his overall comfort and mobility. He has early osteoarthritis and intervertebral disc disease (IVDD), and he takes Gabapentin twice daily for comfort, which will need to be continued through your veterinarian. He is also on a veterinary-recommended weight management diet.
In addition, Rusty has mandibular symphysis laxity (a loose jaw). This is related to age-related changes and, while it won’t heal, it can be managed with proper care and monitoring.
This demure gentleman is ready to find his forever home, where he can settle in and share his unconditional love.
