Chatham the dog needs a new home in the Dartmouth area

Chatham could clearly benefit from a spa day with lots of pampering and TLC. At 6 years old, this resilient gentleman has already lived through more hardship than any dog should. Coming from poor conditions, he arrived with a severely matted coat and a quiet, cautious spirit – but beneath it all is a heart full of sweetness just waiting to shine. The staff did an initial shave so he would be more comfortable, but we can already see how handsome he is, and he feels so much better.

Chatham will thrive in a peaceful home with people who understand large guardian breeds and are willing to give him time to decompress, gentle handling, consistent grooming and a safe, stable environment.
Despite everything he’s been through, he remains incredibly kind. He doesn’t demand attention – he simply hopes for a family who will see his quiet bravery and give him the love he’s been missing.

He has hip dysplasia, a condition that can affect mobility and comfort. Many dogs with hip dysplasia live happy lives with a stable, low-stress home, supportive surfaces to rest on, controlled exercise and regular check-ins with a veterinarian. With daily pain medication, Chatham is comfortable
