Garlic Herb & Cheese Bread
Serves: 8 people
Ingredients:
- 1 oval loaf sourdough bread (400 g)
- 1/3 cup (75 mL) local butter, softened
- 2 large cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp (15 mL) each chopped fresh parsley and basil
- 1 tsp (5 mL) dried oregano
- 1 cup (250 mL) shredded local Cheddar or Gouda cheese
- 1/3 cup freshly grated local Parmesan cheese
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Using serrated knife, slice bread into 3/4 inch (2 cm) slices almost all the way through, keeping loaf intact at the bottom, like a fan.
- In a bowl, stir together butter, garlic, parsley, basil and oregano. Spread on one side of each bread slice and place loaf on baking sheet. Sprinkle cheeses in between slices.
- Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden and crispy. Let cool slightly before pulling apart to eat.
