Garlic Herb & Cheese Bread

Serves: 8 people

Ingredients:

  • 1 oval loaf sourdough bread (400 g)
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) local butter, softened
  • 2 large cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp (15 mL) each chopped fresh parsley and basil
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) dried oregano
  • 1 cup (250 mL) shredded local Cheddar or Gouda cheese
  • 1/3 cup freshly grated local Parmesan cheese

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Using serrated knife, slice bread into 3/4 inch (2 cm) slices almost all the way through, keeping loaf intact at the bottom, like a fan.
  3. In a bowl, stir together butter, garlic, parsley, basil and oregano. Spread on one side of each bread slice and place loaf on baking sheet. Sprinkle cheeses in between slices.
  4. Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden and crispy. Let cool slightly before pulling apart to eat.
